Behind Indulge Fall 2015 – Creating the Cover Shot

September 2, 2015 //  by Boulevard Contributor

Our Fall edition of Indulge was a very special project and a candid story in itself to design the setting for our cover shoot. Our goal: capture a moment of pure luxury in a quaint, outdoor space. When we escaped the city to discover Campbell Valley Regional Park in Langley, we knew it was the location. Large, open fields accompanied by rustic trails spanned across the scenery making this spot quite literally, picture-perfect.

Along with our seasoned cover photographer, Alfonso Arnold, we took a risk and drove up to the very top of the meadow (off the beaten path if you will) for the perfect backdrop marriage of the barn, mountains and meadow.

We unpacked the truck carefully with our hand-picked props: fresh cut white roses, a white china vase and a gold antique tea set. And we can’t forget the chair – because what better way to indulge in this magical place than with a royal piece of furniture from TJY Furniture?

Arriving on set, our beautiful model, Ana V, was breathtaking as she sat upon the sofa, not a worry in the world – just a beautiful woman in a beautiful place. A make up professional by trade (with Ana V Beauty), Ana did her own hair and makeup for the shoot, and it was on point.

Ana’s wardrobe and accessories were inspired by Pantone’s colour of the year, Marsala. Boulevard’s stylist Sarah D’Arcey rose to the challenge once again and put together this whimsical, blush dress from Turnabout Luxury Resale paired with a set of soft velvet marsala pumps.

Our fairytale became complete when a mystical white horse appeared to join in the fun! That’s right, “Rimini” arrived after her daily routine at the equestrian centre down the meadow, with her rider Shannon, and owners Roger & Gilian Pinette. Rimini, bowed her head gently in agreement to assist with the shoot. Watching Ana interact with this poised, kind horse made the day completely surreal, as she softly offered white roses one by one to the beautiful creature.

An amazing day developed the following amazing shots, we hope you’ll enjoy, or better yet…indulge.
