THE HOMEBUILDERS ASSOCITION VANCOUVER (HAVAN) HAS REVEALED THE FINALISTS FOR THE OVATION AWARDS, WHICH CELEBRATES ITS 10TH ANNIVERSARY IN 2019, CAPTURING THE BEST NEW-HOME CONSTRUCTION, RENOVATION AND DESIGN PROJECTS IN METRO VANCOUVER.
By Bob de Wit
FROM SMARTLY DESIGNED LANEWAY HOMES TO BREATHTAKING CUSTOM-BUILT ESTATES…and from sunlight-filled kitchen renovations to high-performance condominiums, the HAVAN Ovation Awards, presented by FortisBC, highlights the accomplishments of the homebuilding industry and connects consumers with the local professionals who can help create any dream space.
“Homebuilding today is a complex process that combines regulations, building science and technology, with craftsmanship, imagination and intelligent design,” says HAVAN Chair and Centra Windows CEO Garett Wall.
Wall emphasizes,“The Ovation Awards finalists exemplify what is possible when you work with homebuilding professionals. The home construction industry is about more than just building houses — we create communities where families flourish, neighbours connect and life is experienced. I encourage people to visit www. ovationawards.ca to view all the finalists for inspiration for their homes.”
The finalists in the Ovation Awards’ renovation categories showcase smart solutions for homeowners who love their neighbourhoods but need their home to better meet their lifestyles. Finalist highlights include the revitalization of a one-of-a-kind, eclectic, mid-century home by RodRozen Designs and a kitchen renovation by Eurohouse Construction Inc. that revitalizes an out-of-date home into an open-plan, Italian-influenced kitchen, with sweeping views over West Vancouver.
In the custom home categories, the finalists have built a range of beautifully appointed homes, each bringing individual style, function and budget to the competition. Finalists include an easy-flowing beachside home by Kemp Construction and Sarah Gallop Design, a Built Green Platinum home with a contemporary aesthetic by Paramax Homes Ltd., a not-so-rustic retreat nestled in the alpine by Pacific Property Group, and a home on Burnaby Mountain, showcasing a perfect balance of building science and purpose-driven design by TQ Construction Ltd.
Custom-built homes provide homeowners with the opportunity to personalize living spaces that reflect their lifestyles from the outset — from interior finishing and floor plan layouts to personalized nooks and entertainment spaces.
In the design categories, a wide breadth of style is set to wow people, including the height of classic elegance with Bela Construction’s Villa on Angus, with Carol Faan Interiors Inc, and Bold Construction’s modern spin on The Word on 33rd with Beyond Beige Interior Design Inc.
Ovation Award finalists in the new construction categories are creating innovative solutions to meet housing demands by offering a mix of home choices that not only deliver comfort and convenience to homeowners, but also address affordability challenges and environmental impact. Featuring finalists across Metro Vancouver, projects include a high-rise tower that integrates market and non-market housing by VanMar Constructors, a luxurious nautical-inspired low-rise development by Bewick Ventures and Currant Interior Design, and a suburban community of single-family homes that brings together style and space by Miracon Development.
The HAVAN Ovation Awards is an established premier industry awards program that showcases the best builders and designers across Metro Vancouver. Finalists were selected through a rigorous judging process by a pier-reviewed panel of award-winning builders, renovators and designers from outside the region.
A full list of finalists and photos of the projects is available at ovationawards.ca. Winners of the 2019 Ovation Awards will be announced on Saturday, May 4 at the Ovation Awards Gala, taking place at the luxurious JW Marriott Parq, 39 Smithe Street, Vancouver, BC.
