WINNER: BEST NEW SMALL-SCALE HOME
Builder: Rain City Renovations
Designer: Madeleine Design Group Inc.
Project Name: Luxury Laneway (Vancouver)
This 900 square foot home celebrates the owners love of cooking and entertaining. Fifteen-foot sliding doors connect the main living areas to an outdoor sunken patio to maximize light and space. Vaulted ceilings with four massive skylights take advantage of the southern exposure of the roof and save on energy consumption.
WINNER: BEST CUSTOM HOME:
$2 MILLION – UNDER $3 MILLION
Builder: Tavan Developments Ltd
Project Name: Wiltshire Tradition (Vancouver)

Located in the traditional westside of Vancouver, the exterior of the Wiltshire Tradition home blends seamlessly with this established neighbourhood. Extensive use of rich, natural materials and finishes creates the classic Tudor-style home. Upon arrival, you’re struck by richness in detail, inside and out. Stunning foyer spotlights, rich marble flooring, mouldings and brilliant chandeliers point to world-class craftmanship. The floor-plan is Feng-Shui-friendly, designed for entertaining. The flow is natural, with the central staircase connector. The kitchen is situated adjacent to the patio for indoor-outdoor living at its best. Upstairs, three bedrooms with ensuites, including a ‘grand’ master suite, define opulence.
WINNER: BEST ROOM: NEW CONSTRUCTION
Builder: Lebcan Developments Inc
Designer: Sleeping Grape
Project Name: Welcome to my Grotto
An under-utilized 300 square foot garage is transformed into an authentic wine-cellar, connecting seamlessly to the estate home. The 300-pound entry-door is made from four-inch thick natural wood sourced from Arizona. Belvedere Granite countertops create a rich classic look, with gold veining adding a subtle shimmer. The timeless look of brick stone sets the grotto scene. Rich-toned oak and maple millwork is used for the intricately recessed designed wine racks. Bonus: Custom-made rolling ladder allows for better use of 14-foot vertical space for larger bottle count.
WINNER: BEST RENOVATION: $700,000 – $1 MILLION
Builder: Blackfish Homes Ltd.
Project Name: Mathers (West Vancouver)
The Mathers renovation project is a full foundation-up whole-home renovation. Electing to renovate vs build new, the existing foundation was utilized, and allowed the large mature garden and trees to be maintained during construction. Structural loads were brought to the centreline of this modern designed home, to allow for the large open living space created for the kitchen, dining and living areas. Following the roof pitch upwards half a level, you arrive at the master suite and home office. Large roof overhangs provide natural shading in the summer to limit solar gain, while the large window surfaces increase solar gain in the winter, providing more comfort.
