Over 30 years
While artfully-crafted kitchen designs may seem like a more recent innovation among homeowners, the fact is that it really isn’t something borne of modern dwellers.
The idea may have become more visible of late; certainly, among Lottery Dream Homes and the like, but the idea of customizing has been around for years. As has been well noted, the kitchen is truly the heart of the home and a focal point.
The idea may have become more visible of late; certainly, among Lottery Dream Homes and the like, but the idea of customizing has been around for years. As has been well noted, the kitchen is truly the heart of the home and a focal point.
Kitchen Art Design has a proud history in this area and boasts a track record that dates back a quarter of a century. “Kitchen Art Design was started almost 25 years ago in Cloverdale, BC.” says Donna Verlaan, General Manager of the new Coquitlam location. ”It started as a small family business that has since expanded. This is now the second location,” she says of newly-opened Coquitlam facility located at 1200 Lougheed Highway.
Kitchen Art Design is fully owned by the Skidmore Group, a family investment office that works with existing management teams to turn good businesses into great companies. With more than 70 years of experience, the Skidmore family has an impressive track record of building international businesses.
It can all be customized
Now, the company is looking to accelerate growth in the high-quality Custom Cabinetry industry. Having established and maintained a reputation of quality and superior workmanship in cabinet design, Kitchen Art Design collaborates directly with their contractors, interior designers and homeowners alike; working in tandem to create and deliver the ideal in kitchen perfection.
Donna Verlaan brings over 15 years of experience in the cabinet industry. She has worked with residential, commercial and multi-family development clients. Her experience has given her the skills to confidently lead the new Coquitlam Kitchen Art Design team.”
Kitchen Art Design creates and constructs custom kitchen cabinets, masterfully crafted to suit the customers goals and objectives, color scheme and price range. We can completely customize cabinetry to help our clients to use their space and consider what will be stored in the space. We consider our customers’ choice of appliances, design aesthetic, and style of the home to create the perfect custom solution”.
With real estate prices being what they are around the Lower Mainland, it becomes imperative that one’s personal living space be utilized to its full potential.
And as the kitchen is indeed the heart of the home, custom kitchen design has become the way to go. Enter Kitchen Aid Design; industry leaders in custom kitchen cabinetry for 25 years.
Now through the opening of a new showroom and the 2017 acquisition of Citation Kitchens, the custom work continues to grow. It’s owned by the Skidmore Group with brands such as Speedy Glass and Novus Glass in the Auto Glass Repair industry; Wireless Wave and T-Booth in Telecommunications retail.
It doesn’t have to end at the kitchen
“The way that people are living today, storage is so important so you can really maximize your space by customizing”, Verlaan says. “We can customize a space and work within a budget or goals based on the intention of the homeowner.
For example if someone is building an investment property, their first home or a property to flip, they might go with a clean, simplified kitchen, or maybe it’s their dream home that they plan to live in so they want to put in the ultimate.” It can become a custom design not just for any budget but for virtually any space.
“Kitchen Art Design can provide the cabinetry throughout your entire home; including your media room, home office and custom closets.” From concept to creation and construction, Kitchen Art Design works hand in hand with the homeowner to deliver the ultimate in custom cabinetry.
Looking for an Artistic Flair
At Kitchen Art Design, there is no project too large or too small as they can match the creative vision that their customers have. The concept of the custom kitchen may be in large part due to what we’ve seen on screen.
“People are very inspired by social media and HGTV”, says Verlaan. “The creativity and ideas are endless.”
The customer interest in custom design has really grown as well as integrating the client’s vision right into the design.” Noting that trends come and go, there are some constants. “Really clean, contemporary looks still seem to be a really strong trend especially here on the West Coast,” she says, “and a lot of our clients are driven by that.
“We’re also looking to expand across the Lower Mainland,” Donna Verlaan.
Having been in the business for 25 years they’ve amassed a lasting legacy; taking great pride by guaranteeing complete satisfaction and always staying abreast of creating the best product and service for their customers through the years.
And with over a quarter century of history and a new second location now open in Coquitlam, the company has its eye on the future and expansion on their mind, “Kitchen Art Design is looking forward to the future and plans for two additional Lower Mainland locations in the next 12 – 18 months.” says Donna Verlaan.
